Ursu Korean Tacos

Ursu Korean Tacos
W Georgia Street @ Richards

19 new street carts have been approved by Vancouver City Council, which means we are moving to a more varied street food scene. Yesterday, Neil and I found 4, although one was a hot dog stand that has been around for years and the other was simply renamed, (we had already visited it).

First up, Korean bbq tacos. Neil ordered the $6.99 bulgogi quesadilla and I ordered the $2.99 bulgogi taco. I have one word to describe these: sweet, (and I don't mean that in some sort of North American guy phrase), they tasted sweet. Korean food has this way of taking something like bbq, with all its charred, meaty goodness and smothering it with a sauce both sweet from sugar and fruit juices, spicy from chili and sour from fermented pickles like kimchee. It all works really well, every time.....

The meat was similar to ground beef as you would expect in a Mexican taco and it was topped with the obligatory mixed Mexican cheese from a bag and some sort of tomato and onion salsa, so I'm assuming the sweetness came from the sauce mixed with the meat. Minor criticisms would be that mine was difficult to eat without dripping juices down my arms and spilling half of the beef, (maybe some forks available would be a good option). They are a new cart, so the slowness was expected and as Neil said: "I'm sure they'll develop a better system in time".
