Mangal kiss

Location : W Georgia & Hornby Street

This cart is situated close to the already legendary 'Re up bbq' truck, giving it some serious competition. You'd imagine that they would up their game and offer one heck of a lunch. They do. Mangal Kiss offers two choices of middle eastern inspired wraps - one chicken and one beef, both grilled right in front of your eyes to charred perfection, succulent inside, crispy out. The menu states that they are served with your choice of one salatim, (topping) and one sauce from a choice of three, (there are many salatim choices). Probably due to many people asking for multiple choices or maybe a decision to create something better value for money, when giving our choices we were informed that they come with everything. This is the wraps only downfall.

The bread is stuffed so full of all the extras, including hummus, picked turnips, radishes, carrots, tahini, red cabbage etc., it's difficult to taste the meat so lovingly spiced and grilled. The overall effect is a very hefty wrap which even managed to fill Neil and at $7, it's very good value. Each of the separate tastes was delicious, but they mish mashed together too much. I would prefer a choice of maybe 2 or 3 salatims and 1 sauce, just to be able to enjoy the different textures and tastes without wondering what you were tasting. Probably the prettiest wrap I have ever eaten, with the vivid cerise of pickled turnip and orange carrots, I will definitely be visiting again, but will ask if I can choose my own toppings.
