British Columbia

Maple Ridge, BC
British Columbia, Canada. An area 4 times the size of the UK and twice as big as Japan. Vancouver is situated right at the bottom South West corner, as far West as any part of North America can be. The population of the whole of Canada is 33 million people, compared to the UK which is closer to 60 million. People constantly ask us how we can live like that in Britain, people obviously competing for space in such a densely populated area. Even though we are 9 times as densely populated as the US and 100 times more than Canada, we have plenty of space. The truth is that Canada is virtually empty. Everyone lives in the cities close to the American border. The vast expanses of the Northern territories like Nunavut and the Yukon are cold and almost uninhabitable.

Maple Ridge, BC
British Columbia is a diverse place. We have a rain forest right outside our door, deserts warm enough to successfully produce wine a 4 hour drive away, snow peaked rocky mountains and beaches. It is true that you can snowboard or ski and surf on the same day here.
